Developed by Biofeedback Therapist Jennifer Stephens, M.A.
"Jennifer Stephens first approached me about her interest in the natural bladder treatment for urinary incontinence in 1991...When Jennifer described newer bladder control exercises which seemingly offered a “risk-free” alternative to surgery, I was very interested if slightly skeptical. At that time, there were only a few studies which discussed “pelvic floor rehabilitation” via biofeedback techniques. Jennifer’s experience with biofeedback and her excitement over its use to improve pelvic floor strength and decrease incontinence convinced me to look further.
I decided to take a chance on this new approach to incontinence and was not disappointed by what I observed over the years to come. My patients were clearly getting better after seeing Jennifer...."

Next time you sit on the toilet to go pee, stop your flow of urine. The muscle you use to stop peeing is your kegel muscle. Now you should be able to find the muscle. Do not do these exercises on the toilet after you can recognize the muscle. To repeatedly stop you urine stream is to ask for a urinary infection. So tighten and release the muscle up to 200 times a day. 50 a day is probably fine. Start slowly and work your way up, remember, overworked muscles can get sore.

I'm a guy, and I've been doing them for 25 years (yep, they're good for men too: good for the prostate, good for sexual feeling and stamina, and good for - I have MS - bladder control.) "Kegel " exercises are your friend. Complete how-to guide: sexuality.about.com/ od/ anatomyresponse/ ht/ kegelswomen.htm Tips: do a squeeze for 10 seconds, push for 5 seconds to release the muscles, then relax 10 seconds... repeat this ten times as a set. Do ten (you can build up to twenty if the muscles don't get too tired) sets a day - spread them out through the day so your muscles don't get tired - and in a few weeks you'll notice a big difference in both the strength of those muscles and the ease with which you can control how tight or loose they are from moment to moment. It *doesn't* make you tighter, it just makes you able to tighten easily whenever you want to. EDIT: "do do not listen to answer 1 and stop urinating " In case you weren't reading, "Wonkafan228 ", the first answerer was absolutely correct in everything she said (and doesn't disagree with you). She counselled *against* stopping the flow of urine as soon as you find out what muscles to use and how to feel what you're doing. The reason urine flow is used to teach Kegel technique is that *exactly* the same muscles are involved, and starting and stopping uring flow is something most of us have already learned as children. It makes *excellent* educational sense to teach it that way, and you don't have to demand that no one ever stop peeing: that's already been covered. This has been a public service annoyance. Thank you for your time and patience.
